Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) will host the Wabash Valley Student Government Association (SGA) Banquet on Friday, March 28, in the McMahon Ballroom in Le Fer Hall beginning at 5 p.m. This year’s speakers are Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales and Vigo County Commissioner Chris Switzer. Morales will address the benefits and rewards of choosing public service to the group. Switzer will talk about how a teamwork approach can impact a local community.
The banquet will bring together SGA groups from Indiana State University, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. SGAs at each school are comprised of students who represent their peers to the school and advocate for their interests.
Following dinner, students will rotate through three breakout sessions. Secretary Morales will lead a breakout session on how to start a career in politics, and leadership tips and ideas. Commissioner Switzer will lead a session on how the SGA groups can work to benefit Terre Haute and Vigo County. The third session will be led by ISU President Mike Godard, Ph.D., Rose-Hulman President Robert A. Coons and SMWC President Brennan J. Randolph with topics about challenges facing college students today.
