In honor of Black History Month, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) hosts Odd?Rod, a performance poet and motivational speaker, on February 23, 2016 at 8:30 p.m., in the Woods Student Center in Rooney Library.
Born to a drug-addicted mother and an absent father, Odd?Rod’s poverty-stricken upbringing has turned into the very tool he needed to grab and inspire anyone who hears him. Odd?Rod is known for his “picture-painting” poetry and storytelling style.
Touring colleges since 2011, Odd?Rod has covered over 100 college campuses and been voted as APCA’s (Association Of Promotional Campus Activities) 2014 Spoken Word Artist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Easily separated from most poets, Rod’s dedication to giving an uplifting message over his poems/stories are aligned with his passion to involve and entertain his audience.
This event, presented by the Student Activities Committee at SMWC, is free and open to the public.
